Welcome to Windy Ridge, a 2/3 acre garden near Telford, Shropshire, which was highly praised by Roy Lancaster, the world-renowned plantsman, for the quality of its design and planting. We were chosen as Shropshire Garden of the Year 2005 and Daily Mail National Garden Competition winners in 2008. Come and visit on a day the garden is open to the public, make an appointment for a private visit or consider booking a workshop where you can learn more about garden design and planting.
Windy Ridge is a great place to get ideas for your own garden. Simple but effective hard landscaping gives a strong underlying structure, which is softened by exuberant, colour-themed planting which fills the borders leaving no room for weeds! Each area has its own identity: terracing with a circular theme, lawns, gravel areas, topiary, formal water features, a large informal pond and stream, a gazebo and summer house and last but not least the largest wellington boots in the world! A map and plant list are available for visitors, and most of the 1,000 species of plant are labelled, so come and browse at your leisure.
